Jesus Is The Founder and Builder of The Church
Why are you a member of the church of Christ? Or, why are you a member of the organization, denomination that your are a member ofIs there a difference?
- Isaiah 41:21
- 1 Peter 3:15
No church can be scriptural unless it is founded by the scriptural builder.
The Scriptural Builder of the Church
" And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." - Matthew 16:18
- The church must belong to Him.
- A church founded by any other builder, man, is not a scriptural church.
- Peter was given the keys to open the door leading the way into the church.
- Peter stated the necessary terms of entrance.
"Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:37-39
- Acts 2:42,47
John the Baptist did not establish the church.
- Matthew 14:10
- Matthew :11
- Matthew 15:13
The Church was Established on the Scriptural Foundations
- Matthew 16:18
- 1 Corinthians 3:11
- Ephesians 2:19
It was build upon the foundation of the prophets and apostles with Jesus Christ, himself, being the Chief Corner Stone.
- Psalm 118:22
- 1 Peter 2:6
- Matthew 21:42
- Acts 4:11
The Foundation of the Church Continues to Stand Today
Jesus stated that anyone who does the will of the Father would be likened to a wise man. Matthew 7:24. It is no enough to just proclaim we must also DO the will of -the father, Matthew 7:21.
- 1 Corinthians 1:13, Is Christ divided?
A denomination is one of division. But, for us to have true salvation we must be in a church built solely upon Christ. To do that, we must look to the builder to see what He would have us do. Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15,16, Jesus tells His apostles what he wants them to preach, what it takes to enter the church, and we see in Acts 2:27-39 how those who were first added to the church were being saved. They were told to repent, and be baptized for the remission of sins. The foundation of faith in Christ as the Son of God and the obedience of the gospel command leads us to be in the church that Jesus Christ established.
