The Prophet Isaiah, in Isaiah 35:1-10 is prophesying of the coming Messiah, and the establishment of the church. He talks about the healing of the blind, and lame and the highway of that would be called the way of holiness.

  • Matthew 11: 1-2, 4-6

John is in prison and wonders if Jesus was in fact the Messiah. Jesus shows that the prophecies of Isaiah is being fulfilled.

In the church is found the way of holiness.

  • Isaiah 2:1-4

All nations would flow into the church, and follow the way of holiness. Christians join together to walk in the way of Holiness.

Song: My Prayer;
a.k.a., More Holiness Give Me

More holiness give me,
More striving within;
More patience in suff'ring,
More sorrow for sin;
More faith in my Savior,
More sense of His care.
More joy in His service,
More purpose in prayer.

More gratitude give me,
More trust in the Lord;
More pride in His glory,
More hope in His word;
More tears for His sorrows,
More pain at His grief;
More meekness in trial,
More praise for relief.

More purity give me,
More strength to o’ercome;
More freedom from earth-stains,
More longings for home;
More fit for the kingdom,
More used would I be;
More blessèd and holy,
More, Savior, like Thee.

— Philip Bliss, 1873

In the way of holiness we need to recognize what God has done for us, and take more pride in His glory rather than seeking our own. The goal of the way of holiness is to become more like God, more like Christ. Holiness is to be set apart or different from the world around us. Holiness means one is pure.

Holiness in Vine's hagiasmos  translated holiness is always rendered "sanctification". It signifies (a) separation to God, (b) the resultant state, the conduct befitting those so separated. "Sanctification" is thus the state predetermined by God for believers, into which in grace He calls them, and in which they begin their Christian course and so pursue it. Hence they are called "saints" (hagioi). — Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words

We are to become like God our Father in our attitude. In essence we ought to desire more holiness because we want to be like God so we can enter Heaven.

I Want to Be Like God

  • Isaiah 6:3

Isaiah was given a vision of the throne room of God. The angels proclaim the holiness of God. John also was given a vision of the throne room of God. And, also saw these creatures giving praise to the holiness of God.

  • Revelation 4:8

God is a holy being and we are to be like him.

  • Leviticus 9:12

He wanted the Israelites to be holy. That’s why he gave them the law, the Levitical system was put in place, so that an unclean person could be made clean enough to enter into the presence of God.

In the New Testament he wants for us to be spiritually holy, to live a life that reflects our holiness.

  • 1 Peter 1:15,16

We aren't to be holy just on the Lord’s day, but in every day in every aspect of our lives we are to be holy.

  • Ephesians 4:24

He’s talking about putting way the sins of our past, to put on Christ in baptism in true righteousness and holy.

Do we act and imitate God in holiness?

  • Ephesians 5:1-2

Like a child who wants to be like his father, he walks in his footsteps. We want to walk in the footsteps of THE Father.

Let us be imitators of God as a dear Child.

I Want to be Pure

I want to be pure of heart, soul and mind.

  • 2 Corinthians 7:1
  • 1 John 3:2,3

God is holy, and pure and we need to purify ourselves. We need to purify our hearts and minds so we can be like God. We’ve got to become pure. We’ve got to become Holy by casting sins from ourselves. We must purge sin from our lives.

  • 2 Timothy 2:21

We’ve got to purge out those things in our hearts that make us less holy. Sometimes, this means to be strong in trials.

  • 1 Peter 1:7

We must purge ourselves and purify our hearts like gold is refined in the fire.

  • Zechariah 13:9

We want to become more holy and purify ourselves. Is our desire to be pure? Then, let us live holy, and purify our lives.

I Want to Enter Heaven

I want to enter into the presence of God.

We saw earlier where Isaiah and John were given a vision of the throne room of God where all night and all day they were praising His glory. To reach the throne of God we must be purify ourselves and be sanctified to be pure like Him.

All who approach God must be Holy. This earth will not last forever. There will come a day when the earth will melt with a fervent heat. The earth will end. We must prepare ourselves for the new heavens and the new earth. We're going to be living spiritually throughout eternity, either in Heaven with God, or in Hell with the Devil and his angles.

So we must prepare to live with God, and we must do that through holy living.

  • 2 Peter 3:10

Heaven is a place that is reserved for the holy. God dwells in heaven in the perfection of His holiness. Without holiness we will not see the Lord.

  • Hebrews 12:14
  • Matthew 5:8

Only those who have been washed of their sins, who have been baptized to be cleansed of their sins shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven.

  • Revelation 22:14

Doing the commandments of God is what makes us holy.

  • Revelation 21:7

We often, allow those things of the world to drown out the things of our hearts and minds that seeks to honor God. We must overcome those things, and over come the devil who seeks to pull us away from God’s throne.

Is it our desire to enter into heaven? Then, let us walk the walk that is worthy of the vocation of our calling, Let us walk int he way of holiness, the way of purity.

  • 1 John 1:7
  • 1 John 1:5

In walking in the light with God we have fellowship with Him. We have cleansing of sins.

To walk int he light we must first walk int he way of Christ that we read about the New testament. We must believe in the son of God, and we must act upon that belief, repent of our sins, confess His name, never being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus.  And, we must be baptized to have our sins washed away. That’s when we begin walking with Him. And, we must continue to walk in faith, living holy and in the way of holiness.

As Christians, when we sin, we must repent, and turn back to walking in the way of holiness, in the light, and the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from our sins.

I want to be like God, I want to be pure, and and I want to go to heaven. But, to do so, I must have more holiness seeking to be like God.
