We're going to talk about some things that are better. We live our lives making decisions based on our own opinions.
Some Things are Better than Others
God has made a list of somethings that are better. Regarding these things, it is not an option, it is not an opinion. God says it's better.
God wants us to have a better life on this earth. And, He wants us o have a better destination than the one the those who are lost are facing.
9 Better Things According to God
It is Better to Trust in the Lord
- Psalm 118:8,9
Everyone who has ever dealt with someone in public, knows that this is right. Some deceive, lie, and steal. It is better to trust in the Lord.

- Proverbs 3:5
It is better to trust in the Lord, than it is to trust in man, or even princes. God's word does not change.
It is Better to Hear the Rebuke of the Wise
- Ecclesiastes 7:5-6
Humor is a good thing. But, it's better to listen to wisdom.
- Proverbs 15:13

There is nothing wrong with humor. It can be good for you. But, not always. What it is that causes you to laugh gives you insight into your character.
Fools cannot help us. But, the wisdom of the wise, those who are faithful, those who have lived the will of God, are those we should listen to.

Often times, we'd rather listen to smooth things, than what we need to hear. We need to hear God's word.
It is better to listen to the words of the wise, rather than the words of fools.
It is Better to Enter into Life Maimed of Halt
- Matthew 18:8-9
Man cannot just have everything that he wants. Therefore, he has to decide which is better. It's better to have eternal life. If we have to give up something in this life in order to gain eternal life, it is better.

That great price is the gospel and salvation we have in Christ Jesus. It is worth everything. If I have to give up my earthly goods in order to gain that great price, Matthew 19.
Whatever it is that is keeping us from following God, we should get rid of it, because it is better to enter life halt, or maimed so we can recieve the eternal reward.
Better is it That Thou Should Not Vow
- Ecclesiastes 5:4-5
A vow is a solemn promise, one especially made to God. Have you made a vow to God? Jonah did.

Did Noah fulfill the vow? He did follow through, but did so reluctantly. His heart was not in the vow.

Do we make promises to God, on how we will live, what we will give? Covenant breakers are separated from God.

Wisdom is Better than Rubies

Wisdom is the ability to apply that which is learned.

Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge. It is the knowledge of God's word.

It is Better to Dwell in the Wilderness
- Proverbs 21:9
Whether a man or a woman, it's better to live in a wilderness than in a house with one who is a brawler.

It is better to live peaceably, than to live with one who is a brawler.

It is Better to Suffer for Good, than for Evil

You will be criticized for doing right. Jesus, was also criticized for doing good.

Jesus was not wealthy, He was criticized for his poverty. He was criticized for his hometown. He was criticized for doing good on the Sabbath.
We ought to be willing to suffer for doing good, than for evil.
A Good Name is Better than Precious Ointment
- Ecclesiastes 7:1
Your death day is better than your birthday. But, a good name is better than precious oinment. Having a good name is better than your greatest asset.

Our name can live on. That's why it is better than precious oil. Through a good name you can leave a legacy on this earth. What kind of name are you leaving?
To Be with Christ is Far Better
- Philippians 1:21-30
It is better to be with Christ, than anything else.
Eternity in Heaven is Better than Eternity in Hell
- Matthew 25:41
How do we avoid that fate? How do we avoid this fate? We have to be obedient to the faith.
Behold, to Obey is Better than Sacrifice
- 1 Samuel 15:22
If you believe that Jesus is the son of God, and are willing to obey Him, repenting of your sins, and confessing His name before men. If you are willing to be baptized to have your sins forgiven, being washed away. You can live a faithful life that is better and gain that better heavenly reward.
It is better to obey, than to not.
