Service Type:

We worry a lot about current events and the things going on in our world. It's always been this way. When you look back throughout history there has always been conflict.

We can remember wars with England, wars with Korea, and Viet Nam. Many of us can remember vividly when the United States lived under the Cold War. We had a mutual understanding of mutually assured destruction. Which likely kept us from completely annihilating each other.

We worried about nations who could have destroyed us. Today, we still worry about nations that could destroy our nation.

But, we ought to be worried about "nations" that are dangerous to the church today. Which nations are the most dangerous for the church?

The Church is in Danger of Domination

The governing of the church is spelled out in scripture.

  • Ephesians 5:22-24

We're to be in subjection to one another, verse 21. Christ is to be head of hte church, not any man. We are all to be subject to Christ.

Elders have been given authority in the local congregations.

  • Acts 20:28

To feed the church, the local church, elders are to be in charge of the local group of Christians.

  • Hebrews 13:17

A man or woman, often, becomes a dictator of the church.

  • 3 John 1:9-10

This is not the will of God. Having a dictator, one who dominates the congregation is not something that ought to be.

Only the Lord is the dictator of the church. It is His dominion. The church is in danger of domination if we let it happen.

The Church is in Danger of Abomination

The church is in danger of becomign an abomination to God, if we do not guard our works.

  • Revelation 3:14-16

It literally, makes the Lord sick when we fail to follow the way of the Lord.

  • Proverbs 8:7
  • Proverbs 15:9
  • Proverbs 11:1
  • Proverbs 15:26
  • Proverbs 16:5
  • Proverbs 21:27
  • Proverbs 28:9

When we turn away from God, we become an abomination unto the Lord. We need to guard ourselves from turning away from God.

The Church is in Danger of Condemnation

It's important to remember to be more concerned with what God says about the church, than what the world. or denominations say against the church. We need to look to ourselves as individuals and as a congregation to see if we are holding to what the Word says.

  • 1 Corinthians 11:34
  • John 3:19
  • Romans 8:1
  • 1 Peter 4:17

Condemnation begins, in the house of God. Therefore we must guard against condemnation by holding fast to His righteous Word. Or else, we will be found in condemnation if we walk after the flesh rather than the spirit.

The Church is in Danger of Procrastination

One of the Devil's greatest weapons is procrastination. When we put off the thing we need to do, it will at some point be forgotten.

Procrastination will end in destruction. Many procrastinate becoming a Christian.

  • 2 Corinthians 6:2
  • Acts 24:25
  • Romans 13:11
  • Ephesians 5:14

God does not promise tomorrow.  Our salvation, final salvation, is nearer today than it was yesterday. One day, we will no longer have another day to put off our salvation. When we procrastinate we are sleeping. We need to wake up and put our lives in a right relationship with God.

The Church is in Danger of Discrimination

We need to consider where discrimination is coming from. When we, within ourselves, we are in danger of condemnation.

If we in the church discriminate based upon outwardly appearance we are in error.

  • Galatians 3:26-28
  • James 2:1-10

When we show respects to one person above another we commit sin.

The church is in danger from discriminating when we discriminate in the church.

The Church is in Danger of Contamination

We are to keep ourselves from being polluted by the world.

  • James 1:27
  • 1 Corinthians 11:20-21
  • 1 Corinthians 5:1-6

A little sin, that we allow in our lives, can lead to spread and contaminate the Lord's church. Many today are trying to bing in the commandments of men alongside the Lord's commands, and thus they will contaminate the church.

The Church is in Danger of Denomination

There are those who want to progress away fromt the old paths and unite with denominations in order to appear to be in union. But, they fail to see the truth of God's word. To change God's way is to change from the church into a denomination.

The Bible speaks of one way to salvation. The Bible speaks against dividing into denominations.

  • `1 Corinthians 1:10

We can have unity when we apply our lives to the Word of God. We can have the same thought and mind when we allow God's Word to be our only guide.

  • John 17:20-22

Christ desires for us to be one with Him, as He is one with God. He died for us so that we can be one body, in Him. Only in Him can we be saved.

It is possible to be in that one body today if we act in the same way they were commanded to in the first century.

If we believe int he Lord Jesus, repent of our sins, confessing His name, and are baptized for the washing away of our sins. We can be one with Him.

If we can help you to walk in unity with Christ, contact us. We will be happy to study with you.
