The bible speaks of death, and death is a subject that is important for us to understand. Death by definition is a separation. Physical death is the separation of the spirit from the body.

God is the one who breathes that breath into man. It is the spirit that brings life to the body. When the body and spirit are separated, that is death. The second death, spiritual death is the separation of the soul from God for eternity.
When we sin, we are separated from God. If we live a life of sin, and die in our sins we are separated from God for eternity.
- 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
Death is life's greatest mystery. No one on the earth has died, and come back to tell us exactly what death is like. The Bible gives us just a small picture of death, God gives us a bit about death, but it is still a great mystery. what It is, then, natural to fear death.
A Christian, however, can face death with absolute confidence. Even though a faithful Christian doesn't know all things about death, we have no reason to fear it, for the Lord promised rest.
- Psalm 23:4
There is no need to fear for the faithful child of God. God has promised to protect those who are His.
- 2 Chronicles 16:9
As David said, He comforts us. God is overlooking, watching over, those who are His.
Death is an Ending
To the unbeliever it is indeed the end. Those who are unprepared have nothing to look forward to in death.

The rich man found death to be the end of his previous lifestyle. There will be no more chances. There are no second chances after death it is finished.

Death is an appointment we will each meet. So, death is an ending.
Death is a Beginning
For the unbelieving and unfaithful, death is the beginning of eternal damnation.
- Psalm 37:35-29
- Matthew 25:41-46
For the righteous it is the beginning of eternal life.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
It is a beginning of eternity for the faithful child of God it is the beginning of an eternal life with God.
- John 14:1-3
Death is a beginning of eternity either in Heaven with God for the righteous or in Hell with the Devil and his angels.
Death is Inevitable
For all of mankind death is inevitable. There are a few exceptions, Enoch, walked with God and was no more, and Elijah was taken to Heaven in a chariot of fire. For those remaining when Christ returns they will be taken to eternity. But for the most part, we all will see death.

Death is Uncertain
Many in the past as well as in our present day have tried to estimate when the end of the world is. We can't know. We know nothing about the time when it will happen. Death isnt' just for the aged, but it happens for the young as well.
- Genesis 27:2
Death comes like a thief in the night. It is uncertain. We do not know when it might happen.
Death is a Transition
Life holds a lot of changes. But, nothing like the change from the physical to the spiritual.
- 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
The wicked will become immortal, they will not be burned up but will live forever in an eternal fire. Jesus talks about the worm that is not consumed.
The righteous also puts on immortality. As a a faithful child of God
- 1 Corinthians 15:55-58
It will be a marvelous transition.
- Revelation 21:4
Death is a transition, for the faithful from life to eternal life. For those outside of Christ it is a transition to eternal death.
Death is the Great Equalizer
In this life, we see many classes of people. But, at death these divisions will cease.
- Luke 16:19-3
The rich man and Lazarus changed places, so to speak. It was a change in circumstances.
- 1 Timothy 6:7
The rich man was in torment, but Lazarus was comforted
- Job 1:21
- Ecclesiastes 2:14-16
Death is a Curse
Death is, or can be a curse. Sadly, this is true for most who live.
- Matthew 7:13-`14
For the vast majority of people death is a curse.
- Psalms 11:6
- Malachi 4:1
- Matthew 18:9
- 2 Peter 2:9
- Revelation 14:11
Those who are outside of Christ are tormented forever.
Death is a Blessing to the Faithful Few
Death will be a blessing to those who have faithfully obeyed Christ.
- 2 Timothy 4:8
- Revelation 14:13
Death doesn't have to be a curse, it can be a blessing for those who are seeking to honestly follow God.
We should live a life that at the end we can say, Come Lord Jesus, as John did at the end of the book of Revelations.
We need to make preparation in this life. Death is the end of this life. This is the only opportunity we have to be right with God.
