We've got to love God more than anything else. We have to love God more than our families or anything else in the world.
When Jesus said, "you have to take up your cross." He was speaking to a generation that understood the Roman death penalty of the cross. He meant you have to be willing to remain faithful, and put God first in all things, even to the point of death.
It's easy to be carried away with emotions. We see what is happening in the world and our minds can go to areas of anger, or frustration or places where it shouldn't go.
We have to take up our cross, daily, to follow Him. We must be willing to sacrifice anything that hinders us, or another person from following God. We must lay aside any of these thinge in order to follow God.
"Always remember to keep the main thing, the main thing."- Travis Main

Our decisions have consequences. We have to live with the choices we make daily.
Of any Christians who have to live with the consequences of the past it is Paul. He held the coats of the men who were stoning Stephen. He went about persecuting Christians. And, on the road to Damascus He was confronted with the light of Jesus.
We think of the things we've done in the past, and we can live in guilt. But, we can do as Paul did, and forget the things that are behind.
- Philippians 3:13-15
We can't let the past, the things around us, to disctract us from the focus, from the big picture. We need to learn to forgive others, and we need to learn to forgive ourselves.
Life is successful if we set the right goals. We need to set the right convictions in our lives.
Failing isn't an end, it is a way to learn from mistakes.
- Hebrews 11:36
The Hebrews writer reminds us of the difficulties that the prophets faced. He warned there is real and certain danger for anyone who is a Christian.
- 2 Timothy 3:12
One who is a failure never learns from their mistakes and so he or she continues to do the same things that brought about a life of despair.
Convictions come from wise observation.
We can avoid being discouraged if we strengthen our faith daily, focus on the right thing, making the main thing the main thing and remembering the big picture. We need to consider the future and look toward that.
- Hebrews 12:1-4
Christianity is a religion of hope.

Christianity is a religion of hope because Jesus the Son of God came and sacrificed himself so that through him we can have faith, and salvation.
