I thought of this idea, and expanded on it from a book from the Jenkin's Institute*, by Dale Jenkins. Bro. Dale supplied the verses and I supplied the thought.
- John 14:1-3
Here Jesus is comforting His disciples telling them He would go and prepare a place for them, the same is true today. He has prepared a place for us. In verse three it talks about "that where I am there ye may be also..." thus, we will be with Jesus forever.
4 Thoughts On Being with Jesus Forever
We Are Light
- Matthew 5:14-16
As Christians, we need to be that light for the world. Unfortunately, there is a lot of darkness in the world. Where there is light, there is darkness.
“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” — J.K. Rawling, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Light is the absence of darkness. It's often said, that we can be the light in the world, or we are the only gospel that some will ever see.
- 1 John 1:5
- Philippians 2:15-16
We need to be light to those of the world. If we're doing that, as we're told, we'll be with Jesus forever.
Heaven is where Jesus Is
Heaven is where God resides.
- Revelation 21:1
- Revelation 21:16-21
Here we have a beautiful description of Heaven. We have to keep in mind this is a physical description of something that is spiritual. If we're told what Heaven actually looks like our minds couldn't handle it. This description depicts a beautiful home. And, we, of course, want to spend eternity there in Heaven with Jesus.
The Journey to Jesus is Worth It
The journey in this world can bring you down.
- 1 Corinthians 15:58
We can do all the work we possibly can to lead others to Christ, but in the end, everyone has their own choice. We've made our choice to follow Jesus. But, we need to be reminded that our labor in the Lord is not in vain, as long as we go on doing the good works of Jesus.
- Matthew 7:13-14
Few are going to find the way to Heaven. It's not as wide, and not as easy, but it is absolutely worth it.
- Romans 8:18
No matter what happens in this world, this should bring comfort to each of us. We're going to see Heaven someday as long as we remain faithful. We will find out one day what it truly looks like.
Even today, He is With Us
- Matthew 28:20
Jesus speaking at the end of the great commission, we learn that He is always with us, even to the end of the world. He's speaking to the disciples, comforting them by saying that He would be with them. But, He is always with us today.
- Hebrews 13:5
He will not leave or forsake us. If one chooses to leave Christ, that is their choice, but He won't leave us. Our Savior went to the cross and died for us. He made this promise and it will always be with us if we are faithful.
HE IS WITH US - ALWAYS!!!
I'd like to do a reading from the book, His Life, by Dale Jenkins. This is based upon the passage in Matthew 28:20.
"I am with you always. I will be with you when you pass through the fires, as I was with the three. I will be with you and sufficient for you when you pray for that thorn to be removed, as I was with the apostle. I will be with you and love you when you realize you have fallen and want to come back, as I was with Peter. I will be with you when a seemingly insurmountable obstacle stands in the path of your progress, as I was with the Israelites. I will be with you when you sing my praises in a place of despair, as I was with those in prison. I will be with you in a long night among the lions, as I was with my brave praying Daniel. I will be with you in times of decision, as I was with the beautiful Esther. I will be with you when you face the giants before you, as I was with David. I will be with you when depression flows over you and causes you to question everything you believe, as I was with the bringer of rain. I will be with you. — *Dale Jenkins, His Life, Pg. 312
This alludes to many examples in the Bible as God was with several people who were going through very difficult things. some were facing death. There were two examples found in Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego facing a fiery furnace, yet they had faith that He could deliver them. If God was with them back then, He certainly is with us today.
The topic, with Jesus forever, alludes to the end of our lives. Which could be a scary thought. But, we need to be comforted by this. If we're Christians, the end of our life shouldn't be a scary prospect, it should lead us to great joy.
If you've been struggling or need to be baptized to start that journey to be with Jesus, don't hesitate, make your need known today.
